My Re-upholstery Project!

When I first got married and moved in with Eric, I literally threw away EVERYTHING in his (soon to be our) house. Which meant we started from scratch, so when my dad mentioned that one of his co-workers was getting rid of a kitchen table and 6 chairs... I was more than happy to adopt the them! When they came to me the seat cushions were in bad shape but I couldn't complain....they were free. I knew I would one day re-upholster the seat cushions.....and today was FINALLY the day (almost 2 years later).

My re-upholstery project process:

Tools needed: Screwdriver and staple gun (and staples of course)

Material: I bought my material from JoAnn's Craft Store. It was $2.99 per yard, I bought 5 yards, but only used about 2.5 . I took a pic of the material next to my kitchen wall....I like the contrast in colors.

<----Here's a before pic....doesn't the chair look kinda sad :-( ...right? It needs some sprucing up

1st step: Turn chair upside down and remove the screws that are joining the seat to the base of chair. (My chairs only had 4 screws each...fweeew!)

<---Pic of chair without seat (in case you were wondering how that would look...HEE HEE!)

2nd Step: Lay Material on a flat surface, wrong side up

3rd Step: Center seat on top of material square

4th Step: Pull material taught (not tight) and staple one side at a time

VOILA! My first finished chair...isn't she beautiful? :-)
